Hyundai Eco Cars from Southern Highland Hyundai

Striving towards a cleaner tomorrow.

At Hyundai, we’re leading the way to a future where emissions are a thing of the past, where our Electric, Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and Fuel Cell vehicles contribute to a cleaner tomorrow. One in which future generations breathe more freely as vehicles use smarter, more sustainable technology and release fewer emissions.

Our roadmap to a greener world by 2045.

Today

Hyundai first pioneered EV technology in 1991, and so began a dream of creating a world of zero-emission mobility. Today in 2022, Hyundai is a leader in the EV market and our commitment has only strengthened as we increase the sales share of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) over the coming years. By 2030 we aim to secure 30% of our global vehicle sales with ZEVs.

By 2030 – Fuel Cell for all.

We have the goal of selling 700,000 Fuel Cell EVs globally by 2030. In 2021, we launched the world’s first and only Hydrogen Fuel Cell SUV, Nexo. It’s our first step in our ambition of a Hydrogen zero-emission world where we share our world-class fuel cell technology with manufacturers of drones, ships and power generation systems.

By 2040 - Phasing out fossil fuel vehicles.

Our ultimate goal is the complete phasing out of fossil fuel vehicles. By 2035, our aim is to only offer ZEVs for sale - first in Europe and then the world. By 2040 we expect that battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) will account for 80% of our sales.

By 2045 - Introducing Generation One.

Within 25 years we aim to introduce Generation One - the first generation of humans to live in a 100% carbon neutral world. With the accelerated phasing out of fossil fuel vehicles and rapid conversion to Fuel Cell technology we’re confident we can make this greener, cleaner world happen within this timeline.
